SPECIAL EVENT: Wade West
American
Fundraising Auctions,
Fundraising at $18,821 per Minute
The
program title comes from Wade West and American
Fundraising Auctions raising $527,000 in 28 minutes at a
convention to benefit Children’s Miracle Network
hospitals. If the name Wade West is familiar, you might
recognize him from his days as a reporter and news
anchor at CBS-TV network stations or at WABC - Channel 7
News in New York.
As a
reporter, Wade learned that America’s not-for-profit
agencies play a critical part in our health, religious,
welfare, and educational systems. Unfortunately, there
is never enough funding to do everything an organization
wants to do, or could do with more money. This is
especially true in a recession, or now, when even the
fear of a recession can drastically, unfortunately and
illogically cut needed contributions for your
organization. At a fundraising event 12 years ago, Wade
was asked, (with 45 seconds warning) to fill-in for the
absent auctioneer. 30 minutes and $170,000 later, Wade
knew he had found a way to help not-for-profit agencies
get the funding they need.
Last
year American Fundraising Auctions helped raise more
than $14,000,000 for its clients. Even more
importantly, AFA will raise 30% more this year, when
other fundraising methodologies are suffering from the
fear of recession.
In the
program he will present today, as he did at the annual
AFP International Convention, Mr. West will teach the
audience how to raise large amounts of money at a
fundraising auction, get 175% to 400% more for each
item, and how to get donors to give you fabulous prizes,
such as very expensive jewelry, trips to Europe, and
more (especially items and adventures no amount of money
can buy!)
Stop and
think for a moment. How much might one of your
supporters pay to caddy for Tiger Woods at a major
tournament, sit front and center in the heavily
photographed front row at a Parisian haut couture
fashion show, turn laps at 220 miles per hour with a
Ferrari test driver or be backstage at the Oscars or
Emmys?
In
addition, Mr. West will also teach attendees the new way
to prepare silent auction bid sheets to guarantee at
least double the bids you have received in the past, how
having FEWER items in your silent auction can earn you
MORE money, and how to ensure auction purchasers extend
their generosity to write you large extra donation
checks for your annual appeal.
Mr.
West’s presentation is about FUNDraising, FRIENDraising
and FUNraising all wrapped into one event.
